The Gecko is a 12 inch lightweight kids bike and it will be your little one’s ticket to freedom. The single speed drivetrain makes learning to pedal simple and intuitive. We built a handle into the bottom of the saddle so you can easily help your child balance before they ride off on their own! Don’t worry, they’ll be back.

The Gecko is among the most lightweight kid’s bikes on the planet. We designed the bike so 2-3 year-olds fit comfortably in a kid-specific ride position that’s efficient, balanced and agile. The Gecko’s geometry and frame design and gearing work together so your blossoming biker can stand up out of the saddle, stop quickly, roll over trails and crush pump tracks. The Gecko’s low, stable center of gravity thrives on dirt, pavement, and everything in between. Your toddler will be speeding down the bike path in no time.

The Gecko ships stock with a coaster brake. A freewheel kit is available at no charge.

FIT + SIZING

The Gecko best fits riders with an inseam of 15″ to 18″.
First time riders feel safest with their bottom on the saddle and their feet flat on the ground.
A child with a 15″ inseam will fit the Gecko with the integrated seat/seat post dropped as low as possible.
Once kids get comfortable on two wheels, they’ll want to sit on the saddle with only the balls of their feet on the ground. Thus, a confident rider with a 15″ inseam and a first-time rider with a 17″ inseam each will feel comfortable set-up with the same position on their bikes.

Does the Gecko accept training wheels?

No.

Can I get a Gecko with a coaster brake?

Yes, we do offer a coaster brake option.

Is the Gecko a good first pedal bike?

Yes, if your child’s inseam is between 15-18” the Gecko will fit well. You should also consider the rider’s ability and height when selecting a bike. If your child is taller than or close to the top end of the size range for the Gecko, check out the 16 inch Hedgehog.

Does the Gecko have a kickstand?

No, but you can modify a Greenfield kickstand to fit the Gecko.

Can the Gecko be used as a balance bike without the pedals?

Yes, we have many people use the bike this way until the child gets used to the hand brakes.

My child is in the size range for the Gecko, but it looks like their knees are coming up too high when pedaling. Is this bike the wrong size?

This is an issue with all of the smallest size pedal bikes. There are some limitations to the crank arm length and pedal clearance that affect this. When the seat is at the minimum height, this is not as optimal for pedalling. This phase does not last long however. As the child grows more confident, and can put a toe down vs flat feet, you can begin to raise the seat height. As your child gets taller and has a bit longer inseam they will have more room on the bike, also.
